The Gesamtschule an der Ahornallee was founded in 2018 and is still being built. The German comprehensive school has about 540 students, between the age of 11-16. Our school places a large focus on extracurricular activities, encouraging students to find interests beyond the classroom.The town of Guetersloh is located in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, only a 20 minutes drive away from the Teutoburger Forest or 1,5 hours to the Netherlands. Bigger cities such as Duesseldorf, Cologne or Hamburg are just a couple hours journey away from our school. Since the opening of our comprehensive school in 2018, we have faced many challenges in order to build a new school from the ground up. Although we pride ourselves on the integration of modern technology into school life, we wanted to make sure that we don’t lose sight of our values such as the protection of the environment.Our year 9 students are working on a project called “Go Green, Keep Green” in order to preserve the sustainability of our school life and find a balance between digitalisation and environment protection. Working with our student club “Team Green School”, the students embarked on a mission to improve our recycling system in the cafeteria, plant trees and organise rubbish collections around the school. We would like to collaborate with schools in e.g. France, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia and Poland in order to share our ideas and learn from other students.Some of our other activities include:-all kinds of sport-being creative in arts-education in first aid-drama-home economics-working with apps, developing and improving our digital skills.
