Von Saldern-Gymnasium Brandenburg Europaschule is the largest grammar school and the only European school in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. It sees itself in the tradition of “Saldria“ a school institution that was founded in the old town of Brandenburg in the early modern period and existed in Brandenburg until the end of the Second World War. The grammar school was founded in 1991 as the Neustadt grammar school. At the moment we are 78 teachers und around 800 students at our school. The European orientated profile of the vSG is characterized by reliable intercultural and linguistic competences that are based on the highly developed social and learning skills of our students.Apart from learning modern languages, lessons focus on mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. We have many years of experience with school exchanges to France. A lively student exchange has also been initiated with France in 2005. Our school promotes the exchange with French high schools through the EU programmes "Voltaire" and "Brigitte Sauzay".Students of our grammar school can attend a school in France for 10 to 12 weeks or 6 months from grade 7 onwards. The French exchange students take part in our school's lessons and extracurricular activities. We would like to initiate and develop those activities in English- speaking countries as well.Brandenburg is situated in the heart of Germany, about 70km west of Berlin and about 30km west of Potsdam.Around 72,000 people livein our town . In the urban area, the River Havel branches out into several canals that form some islands that characterize the cityscape. There are also ten natural lakes.
