The Gymnasium Süderelbe is located in Hamburg’s southern district of Harburg (Borough Neugraben-Fischbek). Being the result of a merger of three different schools in 1990, we currently have approx. 970 students aged 10-18 (years 5 through 12).While having a broad range of subjects and extracurricular activities, we put an emphasis on the international orientation of our school: Our students have the option to acquire the joint German/French High school graduation certificate (Abibac) and we have partner schools in France, Australia, China, India and the United States.Unfortunately, the exchange with the US has encountered some difficulties due to staff issues on the American side, which is why we are currently looking for a new and reliable partnership with a school in the English-speaking world.Hamburg’s city center with its sights and attractions (e.g. Speicherstadt, Außen- and Binnenalster, harbour, Elbphilharmonie, HafenCity etc.) is easily accessible within 30 minutes by public transportation. Natural landscapes typical of the region (e.g. Fischbek heath, protected moors) are close by.Day trips to cities like Berlin (~3 hours away) or the medieval towns of Lüneburg or Lübeck can easily be organised from our location.
