Yenimahalle District Directorate of National Education (YIMEM) started to serve in 1986 in order to manage, direct, supervise and coordinate the education policies and strategic plans of the Ministry of National Education in line with legislation and programs in an effective and efficient manner. It carries out the works and transactions related to Preschool, Primary School, Secondary Education (lower and upper), Vocational and Technical Education, Religious Education, Special Education and Guidance Services. The Lifelong Learning Branch carries out the works and procedures related to taking measures to improve the knowledge and skills of individuals who cannot receive formal education, to provide non-formal vocational education for youngsters and adults, and to carry out applications related to the open education system. It is also among the responsibilities to fulfill the duties given by the Ministry regarding higher education. In accordance with the National Education Directorates R&D Unit Directive, there is an R&D unit consisting of two teams, namely the "research, strategic planning and quality development team" and the "projects team". There are 7.622 classrooms in 404 schools/institutions affiliated to the Directorate. 10,771 teachers provide education to 125.288 students. The institution closely follows universal education approaches by effectively using the knowledge, skills and technology needed in today's world. YİMEM constantly communicates with its institutions, partners in projects, stakeholders and associates. It has adopted the principle of cooperation in all administrative, implementation and dissemination strategies. As YİMEM is a responsible local authority in its field, it will take an active role especially in disseminating the project results.
