Theo-Hespers-Gesamtschule is an integrated comprehensive school. We welcome children of all talents, cultures and identities and are dedicated to developing potentials of all sorts, may it be art, science, languages, or others. The core of our teaching system is to enable our students to learn self-managed, preparing them for the challenges of globalized competition. Following modern approaches to teaching, students study in learning offices, labs, workshops and projects. Approximately 60 teachers and education experts and approx. 800 students work as a team to fulfill the United Nations 17 Goal of Sustainable Development.Theo-Hespers-Gesamtschule is located in Mönchengladbach, a medium-sized town close to Duesseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, one of the most populated and industrially developed areas worldwide. Mönchengladbach was industrialized early in history and economically strived through its textile industry in the 19th and early 20th century, now strongly competing to keep up with international standard. To support this process and open the world for our students, we currently teach English (A1-B2), French and Spanish (A1-B1), and will start teaching Japanese for students at the age of 15-18 (A1-A2, partly B1) next school term (starting in August 2023).
