Stephen Hawking School (SHS) in Neckargemünd (6 miles from Heidelberg) is a state-recognized private school for physically handicapped and non-handicapped children and young people. More than 650 students are taught in eleven different educational programs, both as day or boarding school students. Courses range from elementary to upper secondary education with a general, vocational, commercial and socio-educational focus. Wünsche hinsichtlich Partnerschule: Project ideas include anything that allows our students to improve their English, expand cultural horizons and virtually travel the world. If any American schools are up for it, we would like to take part in the German American Virtual Exchange (GAVE) program, starting in fall 2022, but we're open to other suggestions as well! We would like to focus on grades 9 to 11 (ages 14 to 18). Our ninth graders have had at least 4 years of English. Since many of our high school students are physically handicapped or chronically ill, we're looking for teenagers that are open-minded and willing to embrace diversity!
