We are a German Realschule, a public secondary school for grades 5 through 10, located in Frechen, near the city of Cologne in the state of Nordrhein-Westphalia. Frechen is a friendly small town with a population of about 50 000 on the outskirts of Cologne (or Köln, as we call it here; population about 1 million). For visitors, there is plenty of history and culture to explore in one of our country’s oldest and most fascinating big cities, while at the same time you get all the benefits of a small town community. We are in close proximity to a lot of natural beauty and a variety of other places of interest. Our school (about 1100 students) offers an intensive English immersion program. There are many sports and clubs for our students to enjoy. We would like to establish a permanent exchange program with an American high school. As to the specifics, we are very open-minded and flexible. It would be nice to have our students skyping and/or e-mailing each other in order to get to know one another prior to the actual visits.
