We are a catholic lower secondary school with a whole-day offer, that was founded in 2012 under the auspices of the diocese of Essen. Our school is characterized by Christian principles within the community life. All our pedagogic decisions are based on our association’s maxim, „…because you are unique.“ In addition, particular attention is paid to supporting our students to recognize and develop their individual abilities. Our interdisciplinary lessons aim to offer and connect modern life-experience-realities that give students the opportunity to improve their competence to act inside and outside school. Besides, and as part of our regularly implemented project days, we want to sensitize our students for issues such as sustainability, racism and the Holocaust. With our project day that is instituted on the occasion of the Holocaust Memorial Day, we want to establish a culture of remembrance, that raise the student’s awareness concerning human dignity, freedom, rule of law and democracy and enables them, in intense treatment with the Jewish and the own culture, to search for personal relations that are relevant for their own lives. As recently extended school we now want to develop and intensify school cooperations, as we expect that „learning from exposure“ will have a sustainable, positive and enriching effect on everyone who takes part. For a school cooperation with intended student’s exchange we want to refer to the issues of our project day focussing the remembrance, responsibility, future and the connection between Israel and Germany to promote an intercultural understanding and to support peace. We think that appropriate themes for this can be found in subjects like Religious Education, Social Studies, languages in general, economy as well as in fields that deal with cultural topics or urban development. In terms of a cooperation with an Israeli school we want to specify common key topics following our basic idea. Students are encouraged to work on these topics in workshops and present their results on a theme journey in class 10, that will provide an exchange for further local explorations with the partner school.
