Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium
Country: Germany
Town: Germering

Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium is looking for an exchange program with a grammar school or secondary school in Great Britain, Ireland or a high school in the United States. We are a grammar school/high school located in Germering, a suburb of Munich with almost 40,000 inhabitants in the South of Bavaria. At the moment there are about 1200 students and about 110 teachers at our school, which offers three different branches: Maths and natural sciences, languages, and music. Apart from these branches our students can also choose from lots of different extra-curricular activities (drama, social studies, conversation, robotics…) and field trips (such as skiing in winter or hiking in autumn). Our students start learning English in 5th grade and often continue up to 12th grade. Apart from English, our school also offers classes in Latin, French, Spanish and Italian. But whereas there are exchange programs with France, Italy, Spain and even Chile, the English department is still looking for an exchange partner in an English-speaking country where our students (aged 15-16/17) can practice their English with native speakers and experience culture, history and school&family life in their region. Our region offers a vast variety of activities, such as sightseeing in Munich, the Bavarian capital, with its Olympic Stadium, castles, museums and churches. There are lots of beautiful lakes nearby and the Bavarian Alps aren’t far away either. You could also visit Neuschwanstein Castle. Other major cities such as Augsburg, Ingolstadt or Nuremberg can easily be reached as well. If you’re interested, feel free to have a look at our website (www.csg-germering.de) and don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.

Type of the school: Secondary School (Both)
Age of the students from: 10 to 18
Main project topics:
Languages taught:  English, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin
Requests concerning your future partner school: We're looking for a school in an English-speaking country to initiate an exchange. We're planning to organise an annual exchange with the UK or Ireland (lasting about 10 days), whereas an exchange with the USA or Canada would take place every other year (an annual exchange might be possible) and last 2-3 weeks. We would have our 15-20 students (aged 15-16/17) travel to their partner school around Easter whereas we are more flexible about what time we can host incoming students (mid June, July, mid September).
